英美资源集团秘鲁铜矿开采或延迟

全球矿商英美资源集团周五表示，担心其位于秘鲁安第斯山脉的Quellaveco新矿可能被拖延，此前政府暗示可能会重新考虑其用水许可证。

英美资源集团驻秘鲁公司经理Claudia Vivanco表示：“我们从政府听到的有关Quellaveco供水许可证发放的一些立场，显然令人担忧。”

秘鲁是全球第二大产铜国，英美资源集团的Quellaveco铜矿是今年将开始商业运营的最大新项目，投资55亿美元。一旦投入运营，该工厂每年将生产约30万吨铜。

但英美资源集团和秘鲁矿业部门担心，由于当地农民担心Quellaveco的用水许可证可能会被剥夺，秘鲁农业部表示将审查Quellaveco的用水许可证，商业开采的开始将被推迟。

秘鲁矿业协会SNMPE在一份声明中称：“政府不能因政治压力而冒险做出技术决定。”

Vivanco表示，Quellaveco已经通过“技术、透明和公开”的程序获得了用水许可证，现在提出的问题没有事实依据。大规模采矿通常需要大量的水。“我们正在寻找负责任的开采和当地农业的连续性之间的平衡，”农业部长在周五的一份声明中说。

该部门表示，用水许可证允许Quellaveco使用来自两条河流的2200万立方米的水，这两条河流也流入秘鲁的坦博河谷，那里的农民表达了对水资源担忧。

英美资源集团表示，担忧是没有根据的，其主要水源不适合农业生产。“我们相信政府将在法治范围内做出有利于国家发展的最佳决定。”
